Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween weekend everyone! Have fun and stay safe out there! Here's a scary treat to kick off the weekend - an oldie but a goody!

"This is a car advertisement from Great Britain. When they finished filming the ad, the film editor noticed something moving along the side of the car, like a ghostly white mist. They found out that a person had been killed a year earlier in that exact same spot. The ad was never put on TV because of the unexplained ghostly phenomenon. Watch the front end of the car as it clears the trees in the middle of the screen and you'll see the white mist crossing in front of the car then following it along the road.....Spooky! Is it a ghost, or is it simply mist? You decide. If you listen closely to the ad, you'll even hear the cameraman whispering in the background about it near the end of the commercial."

NFSW Community Spotlight: Jake Neumann and Jon Banks

This week's double-whammy Community Spotlight features 2 brothers who are both long-time fans of NFSW. The fascinating thing about siblings is how similar and different their tastes and preferences can be.

Let's get better acquainted with Jake and Jon from USA!

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Jake Neumann aka GARFORCEII. I am a 20 years old and a school bus driver. I grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, USA. I own most of the NFS titles. For the ones I don't own, I've played it, except Nitro. My favorite is Need For Speed World and I try to play it every day.

How long have you been playing NFSW?

I have been playing since the open beta started and I have been hooked ever since. People who think it is boring now, you have not seen boring. They have brought this game so far in the past year and they keep adding to the game.

What's your favourite car(s) in NFSW?

I have many favs but right now I love the T1 Skyline 2000 GT-R, T2 Mazda RX-7 RZ, and T3 Boss 302. All of them are slammed with wide kits and tall or body curve spoilers. But like I tell everyone, it's hard to choose a favourite from my 72 cars (perhaps more by the time you guys read this)

Your most memorable experience in the game?

Making friends and getting my 2 pursuits that lasted past the 1 hour mark. During the first one, I was on 4 flats for that lasted 8 minutes, while during the second pursuit, I ran out of time to continue. But I evaded on both!

What do you like most about NFSW?

It's hard to pick because of the never ending expansion, but I do like to edit my cars and do some Team Escapes. One thing I don't like is people who ram you dont realize that it is a team effort.

What other console or online games do you play?

I play NFS Hot Pursuit (2010), all the Halo games, Call of Duty Black Ops, Guitar Hero and a few other racing games. My user name in all those games are the same except for Xbox which is G4RFORCEII.

Favourite cars/driving scene in a movie?

I love the Corvette Stingray concept from Transformers: Dark of the Moon and would love to see it in NFSW as it is a concept. And my favourite scenes would be anything from the Fast and Furious movies.

What song or music do you rock out to while playing NFSW?

I like to listen to rock unless I'm playing the game from my car in which case, then I need some bass music. Get some use of the two 12" kickers in the trunk!

When you're not playing NFSW, what else are you up to?

I happen to love racing cars on the track. In my free time, I like to fix and upgrade my personal car, a 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE, which already has a bunch of cool parts on it and a nice sound system. I love to play the game in there because it sounds really amazing. Racing/drifting is really fun too. I also enjoy building custom furniture, hanging with my girlfriend, chatting with my friends from around the States.

Delorean or Hoverboard?

I would have to go with the Delorean. I dig the doors! Sure, it's not so fast with a top speed under 90mph, but it looks cool! Also, I have never been able to skateboard and I might just kill myself on a plank with 4 wheels!

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Jon Banks aka VEXEVIN. I grew up in Billings, Montana. I've been playing Need for Speed games since the first title came out. I love every one of them. I play alot of racing games and by far, I've had the most fun with Need for Speed World, which I play everyday with my friends and family.

How long have you been playing NFSW?

I've been playing since closed beta.

What's your favourite car(s) In NFSW?

At the moment, I'd have to say T1 - 240SX, T2 - Audi A1 and T3 - 911 GT3 RS.

Your most memorable experience in the game?

Making friends.

What do you like most about NFSW?

It's hard to pick. I like how the game is expanding with new things on a regular basis. I love to customize my cars with vinyls. I never really got a bad comment on my cars. I try to "wow the crowd" all the time, so half of the reason why I play is to make my cars look awesome.

What other console or online games do you play?

I play most of the NFS titles on my PS3 and PC. I currently have NFSHP (2010) Shift 1 and 2. I've played other racing MMO's like Heat Online. I like it because of the many game modes and there's always something to do, but it does not compare to NFS's customization options.

Favourite cars/driving scenes in a movie?

Oh boy, lots to pick from! I would have to say TRON: Legacy with the cycle battle. Another would be Tango and Cash when Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell drive that Monster SUV. I would love to drive that in a TE on NFSW!

What song or music do you rock out to while playing NFSW?

I listen to techno and mix it up with a little rock and occasionally some stand-up because someitmes, I'd rather just be laughing than winning.

When you're not playing NFSW, what else are you up to?

Facebook! I also play on my PS3 or rock out on my piano.

Delorean or Hoverboard?

Hoverboard all the way! I'd figure out how to use it on my car - make it hover!

NFSW Community Spotlight: Steve from NFS | Challenge

This week, we shine the Community Spotlight on to a community leader who has not only been playing NFSW since beta, but currently has not one, but two level 50 profiles and working on a third. I think it's safe to say that he's addicted to our game. You may know Steve as CrazyCanuck, who when he's not playing NFSW, runs the NFS | Challenge website.

Let's get better acquainted with Steve from Canada!

Tell us about yourself.

My game handle is CrazyCanuck and yes, I am Canadian. My real name is Steve. I am 35 years old and married with a 4 year old son. I currently work for a large ISP in Canada as a Network Operations Technician. I have been playing Need For Speed games for many years now. I still own every game from Underground to the latest release Shift2 and will be buying "The Run" on release day.

I also run my own community and competition site NFS | Challenge. You can also find me on Twitter and YouTube.

How long have you been playing NFSW?

Well, I have been playing World since beta and haven't stopped. I currently have 2 level 50 accounts and a level 40 account. Yep I am addicted to this game. I try and get at least 30 minutes in a day, if I can.

What's your favorite Car(s) in NFSW?

Wow, that's actually a tough question. I have 60+ cars across all 3 profiles, but I have to say I'm a huge Mustang fanatic so the addition of the Boss Mustang made my year.

Your most memorable experience in the game?

When the devs opened up Fortuna and the rest of the world and I spent several hours exploring.

What do you like most about NFSW?

This may sound cheesy, but I'd have to say the amazing people I have met in-game, on my site, as well as, the good folks over at World Garage.

What other console or online games do you play?

I have a PS3 and yep, you guessed it, most of the games I own for that are the Need For Speed games. But I am too addicted to World to boot up my PS3!

Favorite cars or driving scene in a movie?

I have a couple favorite car scenes. In the movie "The Rock", where Nicolas Cage is in a Ferrari chasing Sean Connery in his Hummer. Also, Gone in 60 seconds had some epic chases. And how can Ronin not get a honorable mention? And of course, Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift when they are racing through the streets.

What song or music do you rock out to while playing NFSW?

I like listening to Rage Against The Machine, Linkin Park, Tool - that genre of music but at the same time, I secretly like dance music as well.

When you're not playing NFSW, what else are you up to?

When I am not playing World, or when I'm not at work or hanging out with my family or playing Need For Speed Titles, I dabble in some web development. I have coded a few things using the World API as well. I also play softball during the summer months.

Magnum PI's Ferrari or The Hoff's Trans Am (KITT)?

Magnum's Ferrari was pretty cool, but there is no way that can compete with a talking car that drives itself!

Change in Virtual Currencies

On November 16, 2011, EA will switch users from specific virtual currencies to a common currency in four Play4Free games. Existing balances in the current currencies will be converted into the new common – called “Play4Free Funds” - without loss for the customer.

Affected games and currencies are:

Lord of Ultima - diamonds

Need for Speed World - speedboost

Battlefield Heroes - battlefunds

Battlefield Play4Free - battlefunds

From November 16, 2011, all games will use Play4Free Funds as the virtual currency. More information will be posted on the respective games' websites closer to the time of change.

This change will affect currency only. In-game items will not be affected.

By making this change towards a common currency, not only will EA be able to provide better service and offer cool features in the future, but our community will be able to use their money to enjoy other Play4Free titles.

NFSW Community Spotlight: Matthew Dell

Ah, Manchester. The birthplace of Oasis, Joy Division, The Smiths among other unforgettable Mancunian bands. And of course, if you're into sports, you would know of the Manchester United football team.

Well, this week's Community Spotlight features a professional gamer from Manchester. How serious is he about gaming? He involved in setting up teams and also competes in tournaments all over Europe.

Let's get better acquainted with Matthew Dell!

Tell us about yourself.

My Name's Matt Dell aka SilvaSkin and I'm from Manchester UK. I'm 29 years old and I have been competitively gaming since 2000.

How long have you been playing NFSW?

Roughly 8 months or so now.

What’s your favourite(s) in NFSW?

Lamborghini Gallardo and the Escort Cosworth but If I had to pick one, then it would be my Gallardo.

Your most memorable experience in the game?

That has to be the time when my team decided to all jump on NFSW together. Instead of doing normal races and events, we all had a race around the entire outside roads in world. We started on the golf course part of the freeway and went east around the whole of the world. It was great fun having 8 people all screaming at each other in ventrilo.

What do you like most about NFSW?

It has to be the free roam aspect. I'm not a big track fan when it comes to driving games. Three laps on the same course get a bit boring, so the free roam aspect wins hands down. I'm looking forward to canyon drifts though.

What other console or online games do you play?

Call of Duty 4 is the game I played since its release date. Before that, it was Unreal Tournament. I am a professional gamer and play at lan tournaments all around Europe. At the moment though, I have just stopped playing Call of Duty 4 and am waiting for Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 to come out. My new team is focusing on these games now and we hope to win some tournaments, Personally though, I'm loving Battlefield 3 beta at the moment.

Favourite cars or driving scene in a movie?

Has to be the car chase in Ronin.

What song or music do you rock out to while playing NFSW?

At the moment I'm loving Gabriel & Dresden again. But my playlist does include artists such as B-Complex, Danny Byrd, MGMT, The Enemy, The Hives or whatever rampfm are playing.

When you’re not playing NFSW, what else are you up to?

At the moment, I'm really busy setting up Respected Gaming, which is going to be a multi-gaming team. We plan on getting servers for both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 and will be sending teams out to lan tournaments and such. I'm quite busy with the rest of the guys building the website and getting some sponsors. Red Bull have confirmed and we're waiting on replies from a few other companies. When away from the pc however, I love having a walk.

Alien or Aliens?

Tough question! I love Alien as it's a classic, but Aliens has the classic "Game over man. Game over!" quote.

NFSW Community Spotlight: Ksenia Artyomova

This week we spotlight a community member who lives for Need for Speed World. She plays the game, customizes her rides and designs some really awesome NFSW wallpapers. Her creations so impressed us at the office, that one of our Dev team staff even set his desktop computer with one of her wallpapers! To check out more of her brilliant designs, click here. She’s also mad about vinyls and you can check out her customizations here.

Let’s get better acquainted with Ksenia from Russia!

Tell us about yourself.

Hi. My name is Ksenia and I’m 23 years old. I live in Russia, in a small city called Arkhangelsk. I’m a creative person, so I work as an artist and designer. I create and draw pictures. In my free time, I love to play NFS.

How long have you been playing NFSW?

I’ve been playing NFSW for about a year.

What is your favourite car(s) in NFSW?

I like Japanese and German cars, especially Nissan 240 SX, Nissan Silvia, Mitsubishi Evolution 10, BMW 135i coupe, BMW M3, BMW Z4 and Audi RS4. I would love to see Nissan Sil1580, Lexus IS300, Mazda RX8, Honda CR-X 1988-1991 and Honda Civic 4D in the NFSW game.

Your most memorable experience in the game?

It’s racing with other people and of course the beautiful visuals, day/night cycle and the ability to explore the cities from the NFS series.

What do you like most about NFSW?

My greatest pleasure is making vinyls and gorgeous desktop wallpapers. For me, NFSW is not just a game, it’s a way of self-expression. I can create beautiful vinyls and share them with other players. I can create nice screenshots, photoshop them and show what I made to my friends. Taking part in NFSW contests and events is fun too. For example, I participated in the JDM festival twice recently.

What other console or online games do you play?

Aside from NFSW, I played Need for Speed Most Wanted, Carbon, Pro Street, Hot Pursuit, Shift, Shift Unleashed, Crysis and Crysis 2. I’ve never came across another online racing game that interested me, so for me, NFSW is the one and the best. And I just can’t wait for NFS The Run!

Favourite cars/driving scene in a movie?

My most favorite cars are those which were made for street racing, drift and sport. Just watch “the Fast and the Furious” movie, and you will get my point.

What song or music do you rock out to while playing NFSW?

My chose of music depends on my mood and situation. When creating vinyls or wallpapers, I prefer to listen to jazz, lounge and chill-out music. But when I’m about to race, I go for something more rhythmical - rap, trance, hip-hop, house, drum n’ bass etc.

When you’re not playing NFSW, what else are you up to?

I work and have fun with my friends, spend my time creatively or play sports.

iPhone or Android?

I will answer it this way – I like the iPhone for the design and interface, but I think that the Android has an excellent OC. The main thing for me is technique, functionality, simplicity, user-friendly interface and good design.

Wicked - October 5

Thanks to everyone who submitted for Wicked Wednesday! The response has been overwhelming! Less than 24 hrs of announcing our new feature, we received 572 submissions!

So we're opening up another day! Super Mondays will now join Wicked Wednesdays for your chance to win codes. We'll now feature the best submissions twice a week!

Our first Wicked Wednesday winner is Dennis Seifert who submitted a wicked video on the world's greatest drag race! Congrats Dennis - you'll receive a code for one of this week's car releases!

Wicked Wednesday Contest

Like Fun Fridays? We’re launching a new day - Wicked Wednesday!

We want to give our community codes! So we drummed up another way to do so!

Send us a wicked link to anything car-related: a car commercial, tv/film clip or news article that you’d like to share with the NFSW community. It can be about a classic car, a new car or even a concept car. But it has to be wicked!

If your link is chosen, you’ll get a promo code for one of the cars featured in the week that you’re picked.

How To Report Hackers

Hey guys, we appreciate you sending in pics and posting instances of hacking on our Facebook wall. We're working on banning hackers every week, but as you're aware, there are many hackers out there.

Please keep in mind that for IMMEDIATE response, as there are times the hacker is no longer on chat by the time we get notified, use the in-game reporting tool.

To report a driver:
1. Right-click on a Driver name in chat
2. Choose "Report Driver"
3. Select the reason for reporting and describe the issue you're facing with that Driver
4. Click "Submit" to send the report.

Our customer service team will receive these reports and deal with the issue accordingly.

Help us to make the game better by actively reporting hackers in this manner. Thanks everyone!
