Spot The Devs!

On Friday July 29, 15 members of the Dev team will be racing around in the Need for Speed World game!

Community members are invited to find a Dev member and take a screenshot of that Dev's cars to be entered into a random draw for a promo code for an exclusive, upcoming car. When you spot the Devs, you'll know which car we mean!

Producer Marc De Vellis will also be racing around in this "car." Spot him and be entered to win too!

Spot the Devs between 11am – 12pm Friday PDT. The Dev team will be in free roam, on North American and Europe servers, so that all levels of drivers can spot them.

Here a list of major time zones to give you an idea of when the Spot the Devs will take place in your area of the world. Just add or minus the hours from where you're at compared to these major time zones.

11am-12pm PDT // 2pm-3pm EDT // 7pm-8pm GMT // 10pm-11pm MSK // 3am-4am JST
Photos are to be submitted by email to ling@needforspeed.com by 1159pm PDT in order to be entered into the random draw. One photo per contestant. The 20 Winners will be announced Wednesday August 3, 5pm PDT. Prizes will be awarded by Friday August 5.

Introducing Porsche 959

A car created by our community, for the community!

Thanks to modeler Svyatoslav Gampel, NFSW is proud to offer to its community this vintage Porsche 959 in honour of our first anniversary!

Let's find out a little more about our car modeler extraordinaire:

NFSW: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

SG: My name is Svyatoslav Gampel, my nickname is myster92. I'm 18 years old and I am from Russia. I've been doing 3D modeling, visualization, programming, game development and real-time graphics, and started with game-modding around 4 years ago.

NFSW: How long have you been playing NFSW?

SG: I've been playing Need for Speed World ever since it was in the open beta testing stage.

NFSW: How did you hear about the contest? What got you interested in the idea of modeling this Porsche for NFSW?

SG: I learned about this contest from my friend. I participated in the contest because I wanted to know if I can create a model in NFS World in a limited time. And because it was a competition from EA Games, for the popular game NFS World.

NFSW: So what's your favourite car in NFSW?

SG: The Porsche 959. And the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

Email Verification Coming To NFSW July 27

Effective July 27, Need for Speed World is introducing a new functionality. All community members will need to have their emails verified before posting to the forums. Only users with verified email addresses will be able to make posts. This will cut down on spammers and trolls and more importantly, create a better environment for our community.

Below are the steps in the email verification process:

Log into https://www.ea.com/profile

Click on the “unverified” link beside your email

Users will be brought to their information page to follow the verification steps

Users will need to login to their email and click on the link to verify

Users will be re-directed to their profile page where a green box will confirm verification

Relog into forum to start posting

Please note: Users that registered with an email address that they no longer use should go into their account and change their email address and follow the steps outlined above. Any users that changes their email address will have to go through the verification process again.

Hot Fix: Lamborghini Murciélago Cop Car Bug

Hi everyone,

First off, thanks for your patience and understanding as we worked to resolve the unexpected Lamborghini Murciélago cop car bug.

We were informed by our community of the bug last Tuesday evening after the weekly maintenance patch. For a period of 45 minutes when this glitch was live, over 1000 gamers took advantage and exploited this bug to redeem the Murciélago cop car. In some cases, many, many times over.

This was an error on our end (our bad!), so it would inappropriate for us to take action against users who took advantage. However, to be fair to drivers who previously purchased the Murciélago, we can’t let this one go either.

We have taken back all the Murciélagos redeemed within that 45 minute window. This also included all the cash and car slot transactions that were gained from the selling of multiple Murciélagos that some of our gamers deliberately engaged in.

We understand that most gamers may not have realized it was a bug or that they were in violation of our terms of service. For this inconvenience, when we remove the Murciélagos, we will offer in exchange a small compensation.

A big thank you to the community who notified us about the bug. You guys rock! Something nice will be coming your way too!
